Malaysia Welcomes Chinese Companies to Bursa Malaysia

Malaysia remains open to Chinese companies seeking to list on Bursa Malaysia, emphasizing the mutual benefits of such listings for both nations. The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) has highlighted the value of diverse listings in enriching the market and providing more opportunities for investors.

While there have been challenges in the past with Chinese companies listed on Bursa Malaysia, the SC has learned valuable lessons and implemented improvements to enhance listing standards and investor protections.

The focus has now shifted towards attracting Chinese companies operating in high-growth sectors like digital transformation, innovation, and sustainability. Malaysia's strategic initiatives, such as the New Industrial Master Plan 2030, have made the country a hub for semiconductors and data centers.

Chinese firms in these sectors are seen as valuable contributors to Malaysia's market, offering investment opportunities, technology transfer, job creation, and innovation. Several Chinese companies have already expressed interest in listing on Bursa Malaysia.

Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry, Liew Chin Tong, has encouraged Chinese companies to consider Malaysia as a regional headquarters for global expansion. He emphasized the country's strengths, including a skilled workforce, legal framework, logistics infrastructure, and stable society.

The CGS SEA Bilateral Investment Forum 2024 provided a platform for policymakers, industry experts, and business leaders to discuss macroeconomic trends and investment opportunities between China and Southeast Asia. The forum focused on high-growth sectors that align with Malaysia's strategic priorities.
